I have Googled myself more than once lol just out of curiosity. So i really wasn't surprised by any of the results that come up The first 3 results are from facebook - then Pinterest, this blog, and twitter. Allysha Cody is not a very common name so the things that do come up are usually from me. I am not worried about the things that come up about me online, because there is really nothing to hide lol. BUT i think it really is important that we keep in mind the things that we do online because it is so easily accessible by just about anyone - including friends, family, co-workers, employers AND students. As much as we would like to believe our personal life is personal - everything you put online is free game. So be smart !

So as I read this Tech Task about creating a QR code and using it somehow my first thought was.. what the heck is a QR code? Basically it is a little square that holds a lot of information, you can scan it to your phone and it looks a little something like this that one specifically is a link to one of my favourite Taylor Swift songs.. haha :) (love her!) I originally thought QR codes were only for blackberries but turns out they are for all kinds of phones and there are TONS of ways to use them. I got to talking to Erica over at http://misswilhelms.blogspot.ca/ and she was telling me about this really cool idea where you can create a QR code with your WiFi information attached to it ! HOW CONVENIENT ?! It is always a bit of a hassle when you have guests over and although I have no problem sharing my WiFi with them It always takes an annoying length of time to find the code and number and device and password etc etc. But this way all they have to do is scan your code and the information pops up on your device. The iphone app I use for QR codes is just called "scan" and it works really well! But ANYWAYS,I ended up creating one and printing it off - It now is magneted to my fridge for anyone that comes over :) ! If you think this is something you would like to try - it was super easy I used the website below. all you have to enter is your WIFI name (ex. Express164) and your password and voila it pops up for you to print out !
So for my 7th tech task have been exploring this website called IFTTT ( https://ifttt.com/dashboard ) which basically makes the internet work for you. So essentially all you have to do is choose an action (uploading a photo to facebook) and a reaction (having that photo tweet on twitter instantly) or in their words a "trigger" and "action". and these little chain reactions are called "recipes". They can be turned on and off which is nice too incase you changed your mind about them.
The one I choose to create was Instagram to facebook. So whenever I post an image onto Instagram it will automatically get posted to facebook as well. So half the work for double the social networking! So I have been playing around a bit on https://about.me/ and it is actually pretty cool. I already have an "about me" page on my blog but if someone didn't have a blog its a pretty cool way to centralize a little bio about yourself along with all of your social media outlets. Check mine out - and create your own !
So the last creation assignment I choose to do involved photoshopping a picture to "change the mood" by adjusting the tone, hue, saturation, etc. Both of the photos I choose turned out a LOT creepier once I was finished editing them... take a look.
The second creation assignment i choose was taking a photo, removing the color, and adding the color back in to one single object. In this case I choose a photo from my trip to Cuba last year. I removed all of the color from the picture and then restored it only to my delicious coconut drink. cool hey ?! i used the website below and It was really really easy to use and of course free so that is always a bonus.
Tech task # 5 was to look through multiple creation assignments and choose 3. This is the first one I choose. The assignment was to create an A-Z collage using a theme. I choose the color GREEN.
Apple, Balloon, Celery, Dress, Eye, Frog, Grass, Hat, Ice cream, Jellybeans, Kiwi, Lime, Mint, Nails, Olive, Pepper, Quilt, RoughRiders, Snake, Turtle, Umbrella, Vine, Watermelon, Xylophone, Yarn and Zucchini. I used the website www.photovisi.com to create my collage - they make it SUPER easy and its free! click my photo to link there. This weekend we celebrated my Great Grandma's 95th Birthday She lives in Mervin SK - the booming community of 200 people. So we made the drive down and got to celebrate with her which was so much fun - it is always nice to get to see all of my extended family. She is in amazing condition for being 95 years old. her body is slowing down but her mind is still very sharp, she absolutely crushed me in a game of cards. She is an amazing and inspiring woman who lived all on her own until this year which to be seems remarkable. I am so thankful to have her in my life and to get to spend some time with her, her time that is left is so precious. Hopefully she is around for a many years to come. The photo I posted is from this weekend. She is wearing her new Blue Jays jersey, she is a HUGE fan. Never misses a game. talk about dedication. Just remember to be thankful for those around you and to spend time as much time with people you care about as you can because they are what really matters. 6 word story by Allysha Cody is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.5 Canada License This is my second "6 word story" and i choose a photo during our strenuous hike up grizzly peak in Kananaskis. It was an amazing adventure except we ended up getting lost because the trails were not clearly marked, so what started out and should have been a challenging 5 hour hike turned into a treacherous 8 hour climb. And even though it was a bit overwhelming we really pulled together and made the best out of our adventure, and got the opportunity to explore uncharted areas of this mountain. It was an amazing experience, even though it did not go as planned.
